Review of Shane (1953) by Jason O — 25 Jan 2008
This is probably one the best westerns ever made, let alone one of the top 100 best movies ever made.
Just a wonderful tale of good verses evil. Probably the best thing Alan Ladd ever did in his entire career.A joy to watch and a timeless classic!
Homesteaders against cattle barons. Farming settlers verses the open range cowboys.
Fabulous casting first rate acting. Rich with symbolism and moral lessons about right and wrong.
This is a keeper for sure and a must for anyone who enjoys a good western. Good family viewing with something in it to appeal to all young and old!
Steven's, much like western master John Ford inhabits his story with wonderful characters to broaden it's appeal and brings them to life with such flair that you end up caring which makes the rousing inevitable gunfight that much more poignant!
