Review of Shane (1953) by Tans D — 10 Jul 2008
Enjoyable, but not a great film. The editing in fight scenes is comical and Alan Ladd seems just a little bit too much of tortured gun fighter to be believable. The character seems a little muddled, first refusing to fight then provoking one.
Jean Arthur is okay, but she's done better, and her personality doesn't seem the type to always be a-worryin' and a-frettin' over the men folk and their guns. Van Heflin probably did the best and Jack Palance was a close second.
