Review of Shane (1953) by Lawrence B — 28 Dec 2012
"You can call me Shane". Classic Western from director George Stevens with cool drifter Alan Ladd coming to the aid of friendly farmers against the unfriendly townsfolk. Interestingly, Ladd is actually quiet and passive in the background for most of the movie (as is his foe, menacing gunfighter Jack Palance), as the human drama plays out in front and up to its climax.
One of the great Westerns.
