Review of Shame (2011) by Mark S — 24 Aug 2012
Uncompromising but a difficult viewing experience and not one I'd choose to see again. Maybe the subject matter demands that the film be so unflinching - and all credit to Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan for taking it on and producing strong performances - but there is so much focus on Brandon having sex that there is little time remaining to fully explore just what impact it's having on his life.
As a result the film is essentially as hollow as its central protagonist.
