Review of Shame (2011) by Ethan A — 30 Jan 2013

Shame is a powerful film about a sex addict who has to cope with his needy sister invading his life. Michael Fassbender gives a ballsy (quite literally) performance that only goes to show how he has become one of the best actors of his generation.

This isn't easy to watch, it doesn't go down smooth. It is a showcase of how far one can sink into the labrynth of addiction...even sex addiction. Fassbender's powerhouse performance and Steve McQueen III's directing stop Shame from becoming a pointless vessel for T&A.

There's a lot of T, and a lot of A, and even a few D's and P's for good measure...but this is far from pointless...it is filmmaking at its most painful best. I loved this film.
