Review of Shame (2011) by Alan L — 01 Jun 2013
"Shame" is a brillaint film on sex addiction. It revolves around Brandon who is a sex addict and cannot think of anything else. His computer at work and home is full of porn sites, on the subway he looks for women to have sex with, and is unable to form intimate relationships with women. In fact, he tells a woman who is on a date with him that marrige is a waste of time.
When his sister Sissy comes to his apartment by surprise his life spins out of control. They have a history that is very painful.
During the film, I was repulsed by Brandon's behavior, yet felt sorry for him due to his feelings towards women and his constant desire to have sex all the time.
Overall, I felt that this was one of the most brilliant films I have ever seen. It is riviting, haunting and makes you think as you are watching it.
