A great movie and a horrible one, all rolled in one. Shame is not an easy watch, touching on some very real social issues and displaying a silent numbness about it. However the choice to highlight this kind of story, not holding back, an uneasy edge about it and the performances by the actors, gives it a real kick into being something else.
