Review of Shame (2011) by Damjan R — 02 Oct 2013
Visually great, but like Hunger, it skips on character depth and piles on manufactured drama that goes along with the supposed 'shame' of the main character. Because of the lack of depth here we only get to see a filtered selection of his behavior and he's just not that interesting.
Tack on the usual weirdness that can be squeezed into a film of this subject matter and the film doesn't accomplish anything. Aside from the odd interesting sequence this is an overlong visual stunner without a strong story.
