Review of Shame (2011) by Matt M — 25 Dec 2013
When a wayward sister moves into his house, the life of a sex addict who already struggles to balance his existence spirals out of control. Groundbreakingly daring and disharmingly honest film about a theme that has never been explored so intimately and so hauntingly.
McQueen's carefully balanced drama is full of tension and atmosphere, and Fassbender's performance as the sex addicted everyman brings a new figure and image to an afflicted man whose problem is often overlooked and even derided by society.
