Review of Shame (2011) by Christopher W — 04 Jun 2014
An incredibly provocative film that is as stirring emotionally as it is sexually. Thus far I have seen two of director Steve McQueen's three feature films, one of which won Best Picture at the 86th annual Academy Awards.
By evidence of these films, it is safe to conclude that we can expect McQueen to have a fruitful career in cinema that will breathe life, inspiration, and hope into an art that is on the brink of being lost in a vacuum of blockbuster; reboot; CGI-laden drivel.
And Michael Fassbender's acting in this film cannot be articulated in words that will do it justice. Simply put: this is art.
