Review of Shame (1968) by Ed Q — 24 Nov 2007
Ingmar Bergman's Skammen demonstrates the interpersonal turmoil a relationship faces when its endurance is tested by an outside force possessing the sole component of violence. Liv Ullmann and Max von Sydow's characters undergo these dire circumstances whilst struggling to keep close their decent attributes as an ambiguous civil war invades their habitat.
Expertly acted, expertly shot, expertly paced, and one of Bergman's most exciting films.
