Review of Shallow Hal (2001) by Francesca O — 01 May 2012
Shallow Hal (Jack Black) is a fellow who's only interested in a woman's superficial assets. This changes when a svengali (Tony Robbins) hypnotizes Hal into only seeing a lady's inner beauty.
This leads to him romancing Rosemary (Gwyneth Paltrow), a massively overweight woman that Hal sees as a perfect physical specimen. This Farrelly Brothers outing preaches a message of seeing one's "inner beauty", but it still goes for the bland and simple fat joke.
The premise of this picture is interesting, but the lame execution left me feeling disappointed.
