Review of Shallow Grave (1994) by Dustin P — 28 Feb 2008
Danny Boyl'es Shallow Grave is a bold attempt at combining dark comedy and artistic profudity. Unfortunately, it often not that funny and often artisically shallow (pun intended (intentionally not that funny)).
It's difficult to pinpoint where the film goes wrong but my suspicion is that there wasn't a lot of material to work with and yet everyone tried really, really hard. It's certainly not a bad film and I'll probably watch it again sometime but for the moment I'm underwhelmed without being completely disappointed.
