Review of Shallow Grave (1994) by Jeff L — 31 Dec 2010
Boyle's directorial debut studies the effects of greed and lust for money on a threesome's friendship. The three flatmates are open and friendly towards each other in this rather huge premises but the arrival of a bagload of cash turns two of them into murdering sons of a gun.
However, I can't understand why the three of them, who look rather well to do, would want to get another tenant. The apartment is humongous and clean (too clean, some may say) and bringing in a fourth tenant would screw up the dynamics of the threesome.
The fighting over who would cut up the body is funny but I'd have insisted that it's all for one or one for all in these morbid circumstances.
