Review of Shall We Kiss? (2007) by Bob L — 17 May 2009

Emmanuel Mouret does triple duty, writing, directing and starring in Un Baiser, s'il vous plait, a sharp romantic dramatic comedy focusing on friendship, love and how a simple kiss can blur those lines.

Serious at times and light at appropriate times, Mouret places his character in a story told by a woman (Julie Gayet) who is only peripherally involved. The initial sex scene between Mouret and best friend Judith (Virginie Ledoyen) is delightfully and mechanically absurd, but of course, it leads to trouble.

While the trouble is predictable, Mouret still manages to give the viewer something to think about.
