Shakespeare in Love is not an all-time great film. It is not a terribly serious film and ought not to be criticized as if it pretended to be. Shakespeare in Love is fun, sentimental, and an enjoyable view.
It has many faults and none of them are important. With romance, after all, one has to be forgiving!
