Well...now that I've seen it, I can't complain that Saving Private Ryan didn't win Best Picture...because Shakespeare in Love is better.

Shakespeare in Love is an ingenious romantic-comedy that proves how good that genre can be with the right actors and material. Joseph Fiennes plays a young William Shakespeare who is having trouble coming up with new ideas, until he falls madly in love with Viola, played marvelously by Gwyneth Paltrow, then he is inspired to write one of, if not the most, famous plays of his career...Romeo & Juliet.

This movie is brilliant, from the insanely original idea to the lovably good cast, to the hilarious dialogue, this film literally has it all. I just couldn't get enough of this movie.

For years I thought Saving Private Ryan was snubbed at the Oscars, thinking that their was no way a romantic comedy could beat such a powerful and amazing war film...but it turns out, I was wrong. Shakespeare in Love is a superior film, and not only that...it is one of the best romantic comedies I've ever seen...and easily the best of the 90's. If you were headstrong like I was, you should see this film for yourself, and see what all of the fuss was about, and hopefully...be pleasantly surprised.
