Review of Shaft in Africa (1973) by Senor C — 04 Dec 2007
Ever since I heard will smith going on about this being his favourite movie on fresh price of belaire I have wanted to see this. this was a fun movie, shaft is brought to africa for being a great, black detective and is being paid to infiltrate a slavery smuggling ring between africa and france.
shaft is a little upset that he doesn't get to carry a gun. the africans are happy that shaft is already handy with a stick and is given camera mounted stick as part of his mission. even though "joey" shaft is pretending to be a simple african boy, he still manages to get his share of action from some of the beautiful african women.
I think that they hid a lot of the weird ones with stretchy banana tits. overall I thought this was a pretty well put together movie. the fire scene was really well done when the boarding house burned down in france.
it was great when shaft made a little dog companion just minutes before that same dog was killed by a man with a stick when the dog tried to stick its neck out for a crowd of people. this movie could've used, as most movies could, a little more action.
I was really getting into the stick fighting part.
