Review of Shaft in Africa (1973) by Terri H — 21 Dec 2008
Shaft... IN AFRICA. sounds exciting on paper, but not that great on film. First of all, you're taking the coolest detective outta Harlem, into a setting where cool doesn't fit. Second, Shaft is not James Bond. I didn't watch this movie to see a black James Bond, I wanted to see a black private eye.
This movie wasn't disturbingly terrible, but it was nowhere near okay.
Movie score was pretty bitchin though.
