Review of Shaft (1971) by Nate W — 18 Sep 2010
Shaft is the most popular of the Blaxploitation genre - and one of the first mainstream films ever to feature a black man as the main protagonist, the cool private eye John Shaft. What a character he is - suave, no-nonsense and a hit with the ladies.
It may be dated and the direction may be awful, but the classic, hip soundtrack makes the film what it is.
