Review of Shaft (1971) by Scott K — 17 Jan 2013
Widely considered the king of blaxploitation films, Shaft does deliver, but not to as much of a degree as I expected. It's still good though. Isaac Hayes really did do justice to the soundtrack, and contributed to the cool feel of the presentation.
The characters are rather natural by 70's standard, and the story, though generic by today's standards, does work for Shaft. The action is also pretty good, especially at the end where Shaft pulls the trigger on all the bad guys.
