Review of Shadowlands (1993) by Cade L — 29 Jan 2008
I had no idea Richard Attenborough directed (I am an itdiot--Gandhi...duh). But this was a surprisingly moving film that doesn't fit the convention for film romance by a long shot.
I found it to be a faithful account of this period in C.S. Lewis' life. It makes me want to do even more research on him as he has been an inspiration to me for some time.
In particular, I was moved by the brief reference to Lewis' and Douglas Gresham's (his stepson) close relationship that resulted from Joy Gresham's death. Its a touching and moving scene.
Lewis is a gift, and this film is a loving tribute to his relationship with his wife, Joy Gresham.
