Review of Shadowboxer (2005) by Tommy M — 22 Jun 2008
I was sadly disappointed in this movie. But that's not because of Cuba Gooding Jr. Or Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Which are the two reasons why I watched this movie in the first place. They made it believeable for me and without them this movie would have been sooo dumb.
It had the potential of being a really cool movie but it feel short. The story was lacking at parts. For example the relationship between Cuba's character and Helen's character... RETARDED and awkward the movie would have been better with out it.
She also had a really dumb weak character that made it even worse. Then for Vanessa... not the best actor but believeable enough and the relationship that formed between them and Cuba was believeable and very true.
Then for the sex scenes... completely and utterly un nessicary it had no point to the movie and it made it that much worse, And that's so supposed to turn you on to the movie but instead it turns you off and now for the ending of the movie was good but dumb because it was like the start of the movie but it wrapped that up and then lead into another movie of being really stupid because you dont want to hear your kid at like 7 or 10 after shooting and pretty much killing a guy and then saying if they come back we'll kill them all.
.. Or at least any good parents wouldnt want there kid to say that. Well... its worth a watch but if Helen and Vanessa get on your nerves then I don't blame you.
