Review of Shadow of the Vampire (2000) by Alexander Z — 02 Apr 2010
At first the ending seemed too abrupt but then I thought about it more and actually, a quiet climax is perfect for this one. Dafoe steals the show as the wonderfully disgusting "Max Schreck" while Malkovich is surprisingly good as the obsessed and stressed Murnau.
A wonderful love letter to Nosferatu and the art of film making, deliciously atmospheric.
