Review of Shadow of the Vampire (2000) by Constantine H — 16 Nov 2007
A realistic re-creation of moviemaking in 1921 cannot be expected. And casting John Malkovich as the director F. W. Murnau is like casting Jack Nicholson in The Shining-someone is bound to slip into madness before it is all over.
Willem Defoe, unrecognizable under the prosthetics as the vampire, is worth the admission despite his broad chin.
