Review of Shadow of the Vampire (2000) by Nathan H — 19 Apr 2008
Stylish film that borrows the creepy atmosphere of old 1920's silent films, then asks us to imagine a bizarre behind-the-scenes plot which occured during the filming of "Nosferatu": namely, that the actor Max Schrek, was actually a vampire.
Haunting, eerie, and well-acted (Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich? are you kidding me? they're the creepiest acting duo ever!), this is a movie that seems to break convention at every opportunity. A very original film that is under-appreciated to this day.
