Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Alex F — 14 Dec 2008
Made in 1942, it is impressive as it deals with the story of a serial killer and his arrival in a sleepy American town in which his family live and how he affetcs their quiet life. I loved the subtlety of this terrifying man and the way the movie slowly grabs you and how we suddenly become totally involved with the lives of this apparently ordinary people.
It has everything Hitchcock is famous for but with a more gentle approach. An absolute joy to watch.
