Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Christopher R — 09 Sep 2007
Hitch's personal favourite, this is an odd domestic thriller. What's most exciting is the way typically Hitchcockian tropes bleed into a vision of an outwardly 'Pleasantville' America. The Feds are such sappy blowhards it's hard not to root for Jo Cotten, and both the 'Charlies' in this film are exceptional in a mediocre social landscape.
