Review of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) by Kelvin F — 21 Mar 2008
Bad, just bad. Maybe, if I grew up in the 70's, or I was a huge, huge, beatles fan, then maybe, just maybe this would've connected with me on some level. Instead, I'm left with a crazy trip of a movie that more than half the time doesn't make sense. Honestly, there are cuts that happen that kinda freak you out. The best part of the movie was Alice Cooper's performance/psycho-mind-control freakout.
I did some reading online about this movie and everyone was proclaiming how Robin Gibb's "Oh, Darling" and Aerosmith's "Come Together" were the best songs in the film, and honestly, no, none of the songs were as good as the originals, imo.
Anyway, if you are in the mood to watch a bad movie, that feels like it could and probably should end way before it does, then this is right up your alley. Especially if you are in the mood for some hardcore "manel-toe".
