Review of Sexy Beast (2001) by Elisha W — 19 Jun 2008
Ben Kingsley's performance is the number one reason to watch this. It's electric in every sense of the word. When he isn't around "Sexy Beast" holds your attention mostly because his character is somewhere in the subtext or other characters are talking about him.
It's true. Ben Kingsley kicks much ass. Aside from a few cool parts (There's a black hairy thing that closely resembles the apocalyptic rabbit from "Donny Darko" and oddly serves a similar purpose here) the rest of the film is just ok.
The beginning is fairly convoluted and it doesn't help that the actors often mumble their lines and in a thick British accent, no less.
