Review of Sexy Beast (2001) by Eric C — 03 Mar 2008
It's really not a very good movie by any stretch. The film was strung together rather haphazardly, at fault can only be the director. I wouldn't expect much from someone (Jonathan Glazer) whose body of work is largely made up of music videos and DVDs.
The collective cast performance, on the other hand, is something to brag about. Ray Winstone and crew never miss a beat. Ben Kingsley is creepy as hell as the obsessed, love driven, mad crook. His charatcers initial drive is to persuad Winstone's character to join him in a heist.
The trouble I have with the movie is that it's hard to say it has a point. Where do pointless movies go? No where.
