Dark and disturbing, yet at times comic, this film is surely one of the modern British classics. Kingsley's performance as a hard-nut, no-nonsense gangster has you glued to your seat and a star-turn too from Ray Winston, who almost steals the show with his gritty and ground-out role as an ex con-man turned perpetual sunbather now living the quiet life on the Costa del crime.
A truly terrific film and one that you can watch again and again.
