The last good raunchy comedy I saw was NEIGHBORS. I didn't expect much from it and was pleasantly surprised. The last awful raunchy comedy I saw was PROJECT X, which was I thought it was going to be. SEX TAPE is something I thought would be full of inconsistent jokes that were chuckle-worthy and some that made you sigh. I also believed the stars, Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, would be great. I was wrong. Nearly every aspect of this was bad.

SEX TAPE centers around Annie and Jay who used to be wild, sexually filled rabbits who would do it every chance they got. Whether it was at home in bed, in their car, at the public library or in the shower. 10 years later, they are married, have children and their sex life is a little lifeless. Basically, they put their responsibilities over their personal and sexual desires. So when the kids are away, they decide to try to have a fun night but it doesn't work until Annie spontaneously comes up with the idea of doing a sex tape of every position shown in The Joy of Sex book.

A while later, filming the act on an iPad, Jay recieves an anonymous message that says he/she enjoyed their tape. He confesses this to Annie, who realizes that he forgot to erase the tape and it synced out to several other iPads, including their children, Annie's mother and their friends. They set out an adventure to destroy the tapes from the iPads.

Honestly, I wasn't shocked by how awful it was. I hardly laughed at all and chuckled once or twice. The jokes may be funny to some, but none of them are hilarious or memorably funny. I think Judd Apatow would have been better directing this and the screenwriters should have been replaced by him as well as maybe Kristen Wiig. because the script is so sloppily and lazily written that my dog could have written something better.

Diaz and Segel have nothing to work with. Their characters' relationship solely rely on sexual experiences which makes their "chemistry" very non-existent. Diaz hasn't had a success since THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY and her upcoming film, Annie, yet another remake, doesn't look much like a success either. Segel is an actor that's best suited with this sort of genre and he is struggling so hard to be funny that it's cringe-worthy. The rest of the cast, including Rob Lowe, was slushy, corny and awkward.

SEX TAPE was built on a useless, tired idea and mashed into something that's unfortunately worse. This was nothing more than a promotion for iPads and a scraggly piece.
