Review of Sex Story: Fifty Shades of Grey (2015) by Tibor P — 07 Jun 2015
Fifty Shades of Grey is a fair erotic romantic drama film, it may not have a remarkable storytelling, a well-written script, or sharp direction. The fan base readers of the novels may nitpick or love seeing the erotic story being adapted on the big screen. It is different from being a typical romance story, as the girl is introduced into the BDSM lifestyle, and the guy who lives in a certain way. It is going to have those clichés of the characters having that struggle as they both are changing themselves and have that urges that they cannot easily walk away from. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson may have a certain feel on the movie, basically an adult version of a fairy tale of an awkward virgin girl changing after her intimate moment with a billionaire businessman Christian Grey.
The plot of the movie is directionless about a young college graduate Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) who is offered the chance to interview a billionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). Grey and Anastasia begin a lifestyle of sadomasochistic relationship, as she slowly changes and she tries to change him.
The movie is going to have that corny dialogue of a script. Perhaps, the novel is not even better, knowing the author is trying to aim for that seductive chemistry and sexual fantasies. The character like Anastasia Steele in the movie is so undeveloped, that it makes her so dull. Even after, she struggles with the change when her sexual fantasies are being explored. Fifty Shades of Grey is a fair film that does not have much effort into writing, or an effective direction.
