I'm always very demanding of documentaries - a lot more than fictional works because handling actual events is a lot more difficult than creating them.
This movie paints a bleak picture of the era when HIV/AIDS first appeared and it doesn't seem to handle the key people in it very well. Of course it's informative, but it doesn't make you care enough - it doesn't get under your skin when it should.
A lot has changed since the early 1980's when it comes to HIV-related awareness, but this documentary doesn't offer enough insight to what happened during the transition from one era to the other.
