Review of sex, lies, and videotape (1989) by Rebecca S — 09 Sep 2009
Steven Soderbergh pretty much launched himself and the modern independent film scene with this relationship talking heads dramaâ?¦and I think itâ??s okay. I really like the James Spader (of course, I do)â??I love his weak speech and his ridiculously flowing lions mane.
The sibling relationship between Andie MacDowell and Laura San Giacomo baffles me at times-why do they communicate so often if they hate each other that much? Peter Gallagherâ??s jackhole husband is a one dimensional putz.
But I like where the film leaves the characters, I dig the dialogue, and as I said, I love the Spader. VF.
