"Sex, Lies, and Videotape" is a movie that utterly captivated me, which was not something I had anticipated. Spader was hypnotic--he was a person you liked immediately and so desperately tried to understand.
After the unveiling of the videotapes, you prayed that he wasn't this disgusting pervert. His hook-up with MacDowell was something I was rooting for throughout the whole movie, and I felt that the way Soderberg showed this was tasteful and perfect.
The cast is great, the direction flawless, and the story creative and wonderful. In short, this is extraordinary!
