Review of sex, lies, and videotape (1989) by Andrew S — 06 Jul 2012
A provocative drama and impressive directional debut by Soderbergh. I thought this film was certainly ahead of it's time. While the eroticism was downplayed the dialogue was pretty explicit and forward.
I wanted to like it more but I think it was the characters that prevented me from doing so. I didn't really find them all that interesting the only one who captured my interest remotely was Laura San Giacomo character.
But this was definitely an independent film that paved the way for many others.
