Review of Sex and the City (2008) by Buggy B — 02 Jan 2014
A guilty favorite for sure. I remember the first time I saw this being surprised by how good it was. I went in not expecting much as I didn't think there was enough material based on a simple TV show to warrant a two and half hour long movie about shoes and sex, but it sucked me right in with surprising depth to all the converging stories of the girls (and their boys) covering a host of real life issues. My only problem would be the excessive wealth all the characters seem to have amassed "that pillow cost 400 dollars", the apartment that Big buys and outfits with a ginormous closet, Carrie's Vera Wang wedding dress, new assistant. It was fantastical, which may have been just the point. Ultimately if you're a fan of the HBO series than you will love this, its funny, sad, frustrating and will have you cheering with some great HEA's (although I wouldn't have been able to forgive Big...again, but what a moment) 12.30.13.
"Movie version of the television series based on Candace Bushnell's book "Sex and the City," which chronicles the sexy exploits of New Yorkers including New York writer Carrie Bradshaw who is finally getting married to her Mr. Big. But her three best girlfriends must console her after one of them inadvertently leads Mr. Big to jilt her.".
