Review of Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010) by Lesley N — 05 Feb 2010
I couldn't fault the acting and the musicality. Ian Dury was portrayed as highly creative driven individual, with a style of his own and a beligernce for success over family. It was not a fluffy story, painting him in a good light.
He was an a-hole to most, especially those who really loved him. However my problem with this film was that it was too "arty" and could have expanded more on the Blockheads success. I left the cinema knowing no more about Ian Dury than I already knew before I entered.
Entertaining and I am now listening again to Blockheads material. Sirkis was truly believable as someone I would not like to have encountered.
