Review of Severance (2006) by Bradley W — 22 Feb 2009
What an enjoyable film, Set up as a slasher flick. Group of workers (containinga geeky woman, an optimistic manand a token black actor) end up in a ramshackle house in the depth of a wodd somewhere in the old soviet union area, with a slasher killer on the loose, throw in a couple of scantily clad ladies in the intro, so far so dul.
Now make the characters british, with those sensibilities. Add a bit of inttelegence an reality to the characters (the decisions they make - sem logical and what you might do in that situation. To top it all add sublte comedy behind the gore and scares Lus a bit of Captain Darrrhling as the boss and you get a film thats sits between Shaun of the Dead and Texas chainsaw masacre.
