Set in 1939 - 1952 China and Austria.
Brad Pitt is brillant in his role as mountainer Heinrich Harrer, the story is based on his life, from Austria in 1939 where he leaves his pregnant wife to climb a mountain to Tibet in 1952 china!! after not making the top of the mountain Brad Pitt alonside co-actor David Thewtis go to tibet where they are welcomed by the Dala Larma the most important person in china as a boy makes Harrer his box of Knowledge for what has happened in Austria!! in Tibet he has a close relationship with a female suitor and David Thewtis (who later get married out of love, and always welcome Henrich to their home!!) Heinrich becomes such an important figure to the Dala Larma that he is always warmly welcomed, the Dala Larma doesn't think him a father though!!!
After spending 7 long years in Tibet when Heinrich returns to Austria the Chinease are ruled by the commionists, the Dala Larma is now head of the republic of china and today is still alive although old still considered the most important man in the world!!!
Heinrich returns home to find his Wife who asked for a divorce while he was away had his child who was now 14 years old looked after by his step-father an old Friend of Heinrich's!!
The movie ends with Heinrick at the top of a mountain alongside his son this shows that Heinrich has finally found a home!!
