This would actually make a pretty interesting double feature with "Adaptation", a film that I love. Both are self-referential movies featuring screenwriters trying to write the film they're in. I'm thinking that, much like Adaptation, I will grow to love this film with repeat viewings, but I won't know until I watch it again.

There is a lot to like here. I was consistently laughing out loud. Though, the film can get really dark, much like Martin McDonagh's previous film, In Bruges (another great film), so I definitely can't say it's for everyone. Also, the performances are fantastic across the board. McDonagh's always able to drag out Colin Farrell's best performances. Sam Rockwell is absolutely perfect. This also may be one of Christopher Walken's best performances in a long, long time. He's funny, threatening, and sympothetic. Don't be tricked into thinking his days of serious acting are behind him. The man can still deliver.

The story itself did seem a little overlong and a little hard to follow at times, but I'm willing to forgive that, for now at least, because there's so much good here. I'm interested in finding out what sticks out more upon repeat viewings, the good or the bad. But I will revisit it at some point. I'm certainly not done with "Seven Psychopaths".
