Review of Seven Pounds (2008) by Scott M — 16 Jun 2011
Will Smith is like pizza. Even the bad Will Smith films are kind of always enjoyable. It's very hard to hate him. This is not a bad film mind you but it takes a long while for you to work out exactly what you are watching.
Ultimately the story that unfolds is a powerful one but there seems to be something missing from proceedings for a solid hour before the best the film has to offer kicks in. Dawson is pretty low key here but she is alluring as ever and does a great job helping to carry the films last moments.
Its a sad story but misses packing that extra punch that would leave you in tears by films end. Still not a bad little effort, but reasonably forgettable.
