If you're the sort of Will Smith fan that require him to punch out aliens and wisecrack his way through a CGI landscape then please avoid this film. Whatever you do, don't betray your lack of imagination by comparing it to Independence Day in a badly written review.
If, on the other hand, you have a more eclectic taste in film genres and would enjoy an original take on the redemption movie format, then you could do far worse than this measured offering from the people that produced 'Pursuit of Happiness'.
