Review of Seven Pounds (2008) by Jeff S — 04 Dec 2011
Following the brilliance that was The Pursuit of Happyness, I had high expectations heading into this one. Sufficed to say, they were not met. Seven Pounds was over-the-top, all over the place, full of plot holes, and essentially tried to pack way to much material into a two hour film.
Or maybe I should say, it was the distribution of said material that was uneven. I didn't care for the sound track, and although Rosario Dawson was brilliant, Will Smith and his character did not mesh at all.
But despite all of these complaints, I still enjoyed the film. The script was solid - REAL solid, although they weren't given the attention they deserved, the supporting characters were enjoyable.
However, this film could have been SO much better; if ever there was a case of unfulfilled potential, you will find it here.
