Atonement; Redemption and selflessness abound in this rather stifled film it seems to gather momentum and just when you expect it to carry on it pulls back. I think reflecting the lead character's awkward persona.
Smith is not great at underacting; which is needed in Ben's humble unassuming personality but he does a good job. You sort of have an idea where the film is going but it's still a shock when you get there!
