Review of Seven Pounds (2008) by Rainer K — 31 Jul 2011
Seven Pounds is another film which can be assigned to the genre redemption-drama. It's about a man who killed seven people in a car accident (including his wife) and now tries to save seven lifes to redeem himself. The weird part is HOW he tries to accomplish his task. He starts to donor his body parts...
But enough about the plot, I don't want to spoiler everything - it seems like the film doesn't want to either. For much of the film you'll be kept in the dark what's going on, except for some unexplained flashbacks - if I wouldn't have read an article about it before seeing it, I would've been completely lost in the labyrinthian plot.
It doesn't even help that Will Smith delivers one of his better performances and that the end is quite good... after all it's just implausible and awkward.
