Review of Seven Pounds (2008) by Darian J — 31 Jul 2013
I'm really not sure why so many didn't like this film--I personally loved it--but I must admit I may have a personal bias. As someone who has dealt with a serious health issue in my past, I really connected with the perspective from which this film is delivered.
Shot in a way where the plot is withheld from you throughout what is essentially the entire movie, and delivered piece by piece, it really hit home for me when everything finally came into focus. If you're not a patient viewer, this probably isn't for you, because it moves at exactly the pace it wants to and has moments that don't seem to make any sense at all since their reasons are not yet at your disposal.
But if you don't mind the wait, the end is just about one of the most emotional ones I've seen, and suddenly it will all make sense.
