Review of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) by Lucas Q — 09 May 2008
Howard Keel heads this wonderful cast of seven rough and tumble outdoors men who ultimately get hitched in this fantastic original musical. Russ Tamblyn, who was also in Westside Story which a couple of you guys thought this was going to be, plays the youngest brother and adds his great gymnast skills to the outstanding dance sequence and showed down that the barn raising sequence is.
It demands to be shown in widescreen in order to appreciate all the action that happens in these scenes as multiple performers are challenging each other in many of its scenes. For me it is always between Singin? in the Rain and this as to which is the best musical of all-time.
